Evaluation of the shoulder is divided into three categories :
- History
- Clinical examination with special tests
- Correct Imaging
History :
General History:
Patient’s age, dominant hand, occupation, sporting activities, and activity level.
Specific History :
History of injury
History of Diabetes
Type, intensity and Location of Pain
Aggravating and Relieving Factors
Ability to do overhead activity History of previous dislocation episodes if any
Clinical Examination :
Inspection:
From the front, back and side Wasting of Muscles, Winging
of Scapula, Scars, Sinuses, Swelling.
Paplation:
all bony prominences, Joint Tenderness.
Range of Movement :
Special Test:
Apprehension test: for recurrent shoulder dislocation
Impingement Test:
Rotator Cuff tear Drop Arm test :
Slap Tear : O Briens Test :
Speed Test for Biceps :
XRays :
Shoulder AP
Shoulder Lateral
Scapular Outlet View
MRI of Shoulder :
